I remember writing an essay for entrance in high school, and I didn’t know what to put. Do I just say I want to go to school? Is that the wrong answer? My parents don’t write in English, except their name or address; I didn’t have many people to ask for help. Turns out you do write that you want to go to school, and that’s a good essay–at least in New Jersey. In high school, I was lucky to have a great English teacher (Mrs. Byrnes you’re the best!) who invested a lot of time in me. Even still, I heavily relied upon my academic guidance counselor, and asked every teacher I could to review my college application essays. After graduating college, I gained more experience helping my friends with their essays and applications, as well as completing my own. I want to help people who, like me, did not have many proofreaders. So, I’m offering free assistance and proofreading for a wide variety of writing.

If you’re specifically looking for PhD advice, here are my application statements for Johns Hopkins, where I am currently attending (for the 2021 cycle)

I have proofread college entrance essays, graduate school essays (engineering, biology, clinical psychology, medical school, creative writing, at the Masters and PhD level), job cover letters, job resumes and CV’s (primarily geared towards STEM), personal statements, and applications for other awards.

I have personally written college entrance essays (in 2012), graduate school essays (PhD applications in ecology, neuroscience, bioengineering, psychology), the NSF GRFP (soon to be 3x), and job cover letters and CVs (I’ve held at least one job since 2009, with experience making research-specific applications since 2014). Outside of the applications, I’ve also made conference posters (adobe illustrator), and figures (Matlab, Python, R, FIJI/ImageJ).
